New York broke the deadlock after a fantastic first shot by Schauffele set up a 5-foot putt on No. 7.</p><p>The squad held a 3-0 edge after the first 11 holes, but Atlanta got on the board after New York forfeited the next two holes by declining back-to-back hammer throws to set the table for Horschel's heroic putt. </p><p><a href="https://thescore.com/pga/players/924">Rickie Fowler</a> and <a href="https://thescore.com/pga/players/5830">Cameron Young</a>'s New York team punched its ticket to the final after upsetting the top-seeded Los Angeles Golf Club last week. Vegas went an impressive 9-3-2 in his absence.</p><p>Theodore still leads all Golden Knights blue-liners with 41 assists and 48 points in 55 games despite the missed time. He also ranks second on the team in average ice time (22:03), behind only Pietrangelo.</p><p>The 29-year-old is only five points away from surpassing his previous career high of 52, which he established in 78 games in 2021-22.</p><p>The Golden Knights entered Tuesday's slate in first place of the Pacific Division with 92 points, a 42-20-8 record, and a five-point lead over the Los Angeles Kings and Edmonton Oilers. </p>

"It was a great opportunity to end a really good week. ... It should piss us off and get us ready for another big week next week."</p><p>The Maple Leafs held a 2-0 lead after the opening 20 minutes thanks to tallies from Tavares and star winger <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nhl/players/4718" href="https://thescore.com/nhl/players/4718">Mitch Marner</a>, but it was all Nashville the rest of the way. The Predators scored three times in the second period and another two in the third for five unanswered goals. </p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>"It was a total flip," Toronto head coach Craig Berube <a href="https://www.nhl.com/mapleleafs/video/craig-berube-post-game-6370411906112">said</a>. There was no reason for it."</p><p>The bench boss added, "They didn't give us a lot of room, but we didn't fight for it, either." </p><p>Nashville had lost its previous four games and scored just three times over that span. The Predators entered Saturday's action dead last in goals per game (2.53) and 30th in the league with a 25-35-8 record. The two teams behind them - the San Jose Sharks and Chicago Blackhawks - are already eliminated from playoff contention.</p><p>When asked if there was an element of taking the struggling Predators for granted, Tavares responded, "No, definitely not."</p><p>Toronto squandered a massive opportunity to retake first place in the Atlantic after both the Florida Panthers and Tampa Bay Lightning lost earlier Saturday. "It's sad to say we're learning lessons at game 71, but I feel like that's what we've got to take out of it. You win or you learn. How many games are we gonna look back on now where we had our chance to get points and we didn't? We can sit here and say the same thing, but we've got to be better at it."</p><p>Dillon added: "I'm almost speechless. It's so, so frustrating."</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>New Jersey entered the third period against the Flames with a 3-1 lead, but they scored four straight goals to secure the comeback victory. "We've got to be confident in that situation. ... Every goal is just self-inflicted stuff, whether that's us having the puck and throwing it away, or a D-zone coverage lapse. It's not like we can sit here and be like, 'Oh yeah, Calgary was just an unbelievable team,' (but) obviously give credit to them for pushing and coming back." </p><p>The collapse was a continuation of a concerning trend for the Devils. Though they beat the Blue Jackets 2-1 on Monday, Columbus outshot New Jersey 24-3 in the last 20 minutes while holding a 14-1 edge in high-danger chances at all strengths, per <a href="https://www.naturalstattrick.com/game.php?season=20242025&amp;game=21075#gameflow">Natural Stat Trick</a>. </p><p>The Devils also had a dramatic final stanza Saturday against the Penguins. He required 707 contests to hit the milestone, accomplishing the feat in 20 fewer games than New York Rangers legend and previous record holder Henrik Lundqvist.</p><p>The 36-year-old veteran is in the midst of his 15th NHL season and owns a .907 save percentage, 2.49 goals against average, and 28-14-2 record in 44 outings so far this campaign.</p><p>A two-time Vezina Trophy winner, Bobrovsky was a finalist for the award last season after registering a .915 clip in 58 starts while tying for the league lead with six shutouts.</p><p>The Russian won 42 contests as a member of the Philadelphia Flyers, 213 games with the Columbus Blue Jackets over seven seasons, and has 169 victories with the Panthers.</p><p>Bobrovsky joined Florida as an unrestricted free agent in 2019. He's under contract for one more season after this one, while his $10-million cap hit is the highest among all active goaltenders this campaign. </p><p>Thursday's victory was significant for the Panthers, as they now hold a four-point cushion over the Maple Leafs for first place in the Atlantic Division, though Toronto has played one less game.</p><p>Florida center <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nhl/players/3949" href="https://thescore.com/nhl/players/3949">Sam Bennett</a> led the way with a pair of power-play goals. <p><a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nhl/players/4772" href="https://thescore.com/nhl/players/4772">Mikko Rantanen</a> is clearing the air.</p><p>The new Stars forward emphasized Wednesday that he didn't close the book on his brief chapter with the Carolina Hurricanes lightly, adding that he simply viewed Dallas as a stronger match.</p><p>"One of the reasons was for me to think where I really want to play hockey for the next eight years," he <a href="https://www.nhl.com/stars/video/3-12-25-practice-mikko-rantanen-6369937523112">explained</a> after his first practice with the Stars. "Dallas was a better fit on the ice, a style of play similar to Colorado."</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Rantanen continued, "I just decided a little bit before the deadline that Carolina would probably get a better return from me if I would do a sign-and-trade, so it would be better for their team rather than me being a rental and going somewhere (else) to play. That was the decision. ... But I want to make it clear I was open-minded in Carolina and really thought about staying there."</p><p>The Hurricanes acquired Rantanen from the Colorado Avalanche in a shocking blockbuster in late January, but his tenure in Raleigh lasted just 13 games. Carolina sent him to Dallas at last Friday's trade deadline for a package highlighted by <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nhl/players/10707" href="https://thescore.com/nhl/players/10707">Logan Stankoven</a> and two conditional first-round picks. </p><p>The Stars then signed Rantanen to an eight-year, $96-million extension. He reportedly rejected an eight-year contract with Carolina worth more than $100 million. </p><p>Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind'Amour <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///news/3239836" href="https://thescore.com/news/3239836">said</a> Monday that Rantanen told the club he was only willing to sign a contract extension with four teams. The star winger's agent swiftly denied the existence of such a list, and Rantanen followed suit Wednesday.</p><p>"I saw some things were said that I had a list of teams ready when I went (to Carolina), but that's false. ... Obviously, it was a big shock to leave Colorado, but I went there with an open mind and tried my best on the ice," he said.</p><p>Rantanen has now played on three teams in a six-week span, which he admitted is something he "never" saw coming.</p><p>"It's been crazy for sure. ... I'm so happy to be here and locked in for eight years with a good team and good coaches and everything," he said. "I'm really glad to be here and thankful for Dallas to have trust in me." </p><p>However, Rantanen isn't totally off the roller coaster. He will return to Colorado to face the Avalanche on Sunday, two days before he gets to play in his first home game with the Stars.</p><p>"It's gonna be weird for sure. ... Should be a fun game to play against your old friends," he said. </p><p>Rantanen has scored two goals and tallied three points in his first two games with Dallas.</p><p> </p>

</table></div></figure><p>Stankoven hasn't been a mainstay in the Calder Trophy race like many expected him to be before the season began, but he's done enough to earn a shoutout through the first five months.</p><p>The newest Hurricane made an instant impact for Carolina on Sunday, becoming the seventh player in franchise history to score a game-winner in his debut with the club. That's one way to quell some of the criticism directed at the Hurricanes for their handling of the Mikko Rantanen saga.</p><p>Stankoven ranks sixth among all rookies in points<strong> </strong>and is tied for the lead with five game-winners. He would have even more if it weren't for his abysmal 6.6% shooting rate. To put it in perspective, he generated around 17 individual expected goals through 59 games with the Dallas Stars to start the season, but he scored just nine times. Stankoven keeps trying, though - he's second in the first-year class with 152 shots.</p><h3>4. He said good riddance to his winter blues with a fantastic February in which he led all first-year players with five goals and 10 points in seven contests. All but one of those points came at even strength, a promising sign for a player who has been criticized for his lack of five-on-five offense.</p><p>The 20-year-old Russian also saw his average ice time jump to 16:33 minutes last month after it plummeted to 14:23 in January. Though it's nice to see Michkov looking confident and refreshed, it might be too late for him to stake his claim as a Calder Trophy finalist. He struggled through multiple slumps in December and January, recording five tallies and 10 helpers in a 28-game span.</p><p>Of course, Michkov is still tied for the most goals in the class and is just two points off the rookie lead,<strong> </strong>but it'd take an absolutely blistering run to close out the season in order to usurp one of the next three players on this list.</p><h3>3. No other first-year player has been as vital to his team's success this season as Calgary's netminder, and he might even fetch some downballot Vezina Trophy votes as a result of his efforts.</p><p>Wolf is tied for fifth in save percentage among all goalies to play in at least 20 contests this season.<strong> </strong>He's fifth in the league in goals saved above average (15.83), fifth in goals saved above expected (24.34), and second in wins, goals, and standings points above replacement. In case that doesn't make it clear enough, the offensively stunted Flames - who are dead last in the league in goals per game (2.56) - wouldn't be within spitting distance of the playoff picture without Wolf.</p><p>That sounds like a strong Calder Trophy case, but it's a stacked rookie class this year. The two guys ahead of Wolf on these rankings simply haven't slowed down enough to make the goalie the undisputed front-runner, but it'd be shocking if he wasn't named a finalist in April.</p><h3>2. </table></div></figure><p>The Celebrini buzz has been palpable all season long, and the Sharks phenom has thrived under the pressure that comes with the hype. You'd be forgiven for forgetting that he's the youngest player in the league this season - he certainly doesn't play like it.</p><p>The youngster is tied for the most goals among rookies and is just one off the points lead despite playing in 10 fewer contests than his peers.<strong> </strong>It's a shame Celebrini missed 12 games near the start of the season, seeing as<strong> </strong>he'd be on track for 30 tallies over a full 82-game campaign.<strong> </strong>The last 18-year-old to hit the 30-goal mark in his rookie year was Patrik Laine in 2016-17.</p><p>Celebrini's season is eerily similar to Connor Bedard's debut in 2023-24 when the Chicago Blackhawks star amassed 61 points in 68 contests while sitting out 14 games with a broken jaw. Celebrini is on pace for 62 points in 70 outings with a near-identical 0.89 point-per-game rate. Bedard's season concluded with a Calder Trophy victory, and there's a strong chance that Celebrini's campaign will end exactly the same.</p><h3>1. Really, you can't go wrong between the two, but we're going with the Canadiens defenseman this time.</p><p>The budding superstar leads all rookies in points. If he holds off Michkov and Celebrini, Hutson would be the first rearguard to take the scoring crown since Quinn Hughes paced the 2019-20 class with 53 points in 68 outings. Hutson ranks in the top 10 in points among all players at his position this season and he's fourth in assists, trailing only Hughes, Zach Werenski, and Cale Makar.</p><p>Hutson's year also stands out historically. He's on track to become the 19th blue-liner to hit the 50-point mark in his debut season and the fifth rookie defenseman to record 50 assists in a single campaign (he'd be the first to reach that milestone since Gary Suter in 1985-86).<strong> </strong>Additionally, Hutson is on pace for 58 helpers, which would trail only Larry Murphy (60 assists in 1980-81) for the most all time by a first-year defenseman. It's hard to go against those numbers.</p><p><strong>Keep an eye on:</strong></p><ul>

<p>Carolina Hurricanes general manager Eric Tulsky said he was trying to strike a balance when he traded <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nhl/players/4772" href="https://thescore.com/nhl/players/4772">Mikko Rantanen</a> less than two months after acquiring the star forward.</p><p>"He's a very good player, and having him with the team (for the rest of the season) would have been a perfectly fine outcome," Tulsky <a href="http://www.nhl.com/hurricanes/video/media-availability-eric-tulsky-6369746962112">explained</a> after Friday's trade deadline. "Having him for a Cup run would have been good. Maybe we win the Cup with him. We had to weigh that against what we could get in a trade. If the trade offers hadn't been there, then we wouldn't have done it. ... When you move him out, that's a loss for the current year. ... (But) we felt like we were getting enough in this deal that it was the right thing for the organization long term."</p><p>He added, "We're comfortable with the way it ended up."</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>The Hurricanes <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///news/3225751" href="https://thescore.com/news/3225751">shipped</a> Rantanen to the Dallas Stars on Friday for a package highlighted by forward <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nhl/players/10707" href="https://thescore.com/nhl/players/10707">Logan Stankoven</a> and two conditional first-round selections. </p><p>Tulsky noted that he didn't get the sense that Carolina felt like "home" to Rantanen, who scored two goals and six points in 13 games with the club.</p><p>When asked if Carolina attempted to trade one of the picks for another player who could help the team this year, Tulsky said he and his staff didn't have enough time.</p><p>"It was a complicated day because the Mikko transaction was consuming a lot of our bandwidth," the executive said. "Honestly, until that transaction closed, we had very little cap space, and so we couldn't execute anything until then. At that point, there wasn't a lot of time left, and the pieces that we had targeted most were not necessarily available.</p><p>"It would have been nice if we had been able to bring in another player or two, but it doesn't always work out. ... We have what we have, and we will make the best of it." </p><p>The Hurricanes' newest player, Stankoven, is in the midst of his first full NHL season and should be an instant fit in Carolina's system. He's racked up nine goals and 29 points in 59 games, and he had a strong showing in last year's playoffs with eight points in 19 outings.</p><p>Stankoven joins a team in second place in the Metropolitan Division with a 37-22-4 record. The Hurricanes have advanced to the conference finals once in the past five seasons and were a second-round exit in 2024.</p><p>"On and off the ice, we want to be aggressive whenever we can," Tulsky said. "Being aggressive means taking some risks. ... If the team was already winning Cup after Cup after Cup, maybe that would be a time to be conservative. But we haven't gotten where we want to be yet, so we need to keep taking chances and trying to push things forward."</p><p> </p>

He scored 17 goals and 36 points in 64 contests this season for the struggling Sharks while averaging almost 17 minutes of ice time.</p><p>"(The Sharks) did make us an offer early this year, and we chose to wait for after the season," his agent, Claude Lemieux, told <a href="https://x.com/Sheng_Peng/status/1898118431808819532">NBC Sports' Sheng Peng</a>. "They asked again to talk contract extension; we agreed and countered a few days ago. I can't tell you if the trade was the result of the counteroffer or not."</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>New Jersey drafted Zetterlund in the third round in 2017 but dealt him to San Jose as part of the <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nhl/players/4725" href="https://thescore.com/nhl/players/4725">Timo Meier</a> trade in February 2023.</p><p>The 25-year-old owns 50 goals and 111 points in 227 career NHL games.</p><p>Robins, 23, appeared in three contests for the Sharks in 2022-23. A 2020 second-round pick, he's totaled seven goals and 18 points in 41 games for the AHL's San Jose Barracuda this season.</p><p>Ostapchuk has chipped in four points in 43 outings for the Senators in 2024-25. The 21-year-old is listed at 6-foot-4 and 212 pounds and was drafted by Ottawa in the second round in 2021.</p><p>Gregor spent the first four seasons of his NHL tenure in San Jose, totaling 26 goals and 51 points in 178 games. He spent the last campaign with the Toronto Maple Leafs before recording six points in 40 matchups for the Senators this season.</p>

<p>The Dallas Stars signed forward <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nhl/players/10699" href="https://thescore.com/nhl/players/10699">Wyatt Johnston</a> to a five-year extension with an average annual value of $8.4 million, the team announced Saturday.</p><p>Johnston could have become a restricted free agent this summer. He can become an unrestricted free agent once his new pact expires in 2030.</p><p>The 21-year-old has potted 23 goals and 59 points in 62 outings this season. He's on pace for his second consecutive 30-goal campaign in his third NHL season.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Johnston has already established himself as a key playoff performer for Dallas. He racked up 10 goals - including two game-winners - and 16 points in 19 contests last spring during the Stars' run to the Western Conference Final. </p><p>He has the same agent - Andy Scott - as <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nhl/players/4772" href="https://thescore.com/nhl/players/4772">Mikko Rantanen</a>, who was <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///news/3225751" href="https://thescore.com/news/3225751">acquired</a> Friday by Dallas and subsequently signed to an eight-year, $96-million extension.</p><p>The Stars selected Johnston with the 23rd overall pick at the 2021 NHL Draft.
