Kaprizov misses loss to Flames due to injury
Minnesota Wild star Kirill Kaprizov didn't play in his team's 4-3 shootout loss at the hands of the Calgary Flames on Saturday.
Edmonton Oilers forward Drake Caggiula went knee-on-knee with Kaprizov on Thursday. The Russian briefly left but later returned.
The Wild called Kaprizov's issue a lower-body injury before the contest. Head coach John Hynes didn't have a postgame update but said the 27-year-old will be evaluated Sunday, per The Athletic's Michael Russo.
Hynes said Friday that Kaprizov "for sure" avoided a major injury on the collision, according to the Star Tribune's Sarah McLellan.
Kaprizov has 13 goals and 34 points in 19 games this season. He paces the Wild by 12 points following his team's outing. The Hart Trophy front-runner entered Saturday's action tied for the league lead with Colorado Avalanche star Nathan MacKinnon.
Wild forward Marat Khusnutdinov also missed the defeat with what the club described as a lower-body injury.
