Blues place Saad on waivers
The St. Louis Blues waived forward Brandon Saad on Tuesday.
Saad is signed through next season at a $4.5-million cap hit, and he has a full no-trade clause. The 32-year-old has seven goals and 16 points in 43 games this season.
Teams have until Tuesday at 2 p.m. ET to place a claim on Saad.
The Blues healthy scratched Saad in December. Armstrong said St. Louis won't recall anyone from the AHL once Saad is removed from the roster, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Matthew DeFranks.
Saad tallied 26 goals and 42 points in 82 contests last season. He's recorded 76 goals and 144 points in 274 contests since signing with St. Louis as an unrestricted free agent in 2021.
The Pittsburgh native has been traded three times in his NHL career. Most notably, he was dealt by the Columbus Blue Jackets to the Chicago Blackhawks in 2017 as part of the Artemi Panarin trade.
Saad has 260 goals and 515 points in 906 career games between the Blackhawks, Blue Jackets, Colorado Avalanche, and Blues.
