Tempo hire 2-time WNBA champ Wright Rogers as GM
The Toronto Tempo are hiring Monica Wright Rogers as its first general manager, her agent told ESPN's Shams Charania and Alexa Philippou.
Wright Rogers has served as the Phoenix Mercury's assistant general manager since January 2023. The 36-year-old also worked for the NBA's league office and had a pair of stints as an assistant coach at the collegiate level before joining the Mercury.
She spent the majority of her seven-year WNBA playing career with the Minnesota Lynx after being selected second overall in 2010. She was named to the WNBA All-Rookie Team that year and later helped the Lynx win a pair of championships.
Wright Rogers' best campaign came in 2013 when she came second in Most Improved Player and Sixth Woman of the Year award voting.
The Tempo are the first WNBA team based outside the United States and will begin play next year.
