Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid was assessed a postgame technical foul a day after waving a towel on the bench during a free-throw attempt from Indiana Pacers guard Andrew Nembhard, the league announced Monday.
Embiid, who has yet to make his season debut, committed the act during overtime of Sunday's contest. Nembhard split his attempts from the line.
The Sixers picked up their first win on Sunday without Embiid and free-agent acquisition Paul George. Both players are dealing with knee ailments to begin the campaign, with Embiid being ruled out for the entire first week of the season.
Philadelphia faces the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday.
