Chicago Bulls guard Ayo Dosunmu will undergo season-ending surgery on his left shoulder, the team announced Sunday.

Dosunmu had been experiencing left shoulder instability and was advised to shut it down by training and medical professionals.

The Illinois product sustained the injury Feb. 20 against the New York Knicks and subsequently missed the next three games before a brief return last Friday versus the Toronto Raptors.

Dosunmu averaged career highs in points (12.3 per contest), assists (4.5), and rebounds (3.5) across 46 appearances this season. He's got one more campaign remaining on a three-year, $21-million contract.

Kevin Huerter and Tre Jones will likely see an uptick minutes with Dosunmu sidelined.

Chicago has a 2.5-game lead over the Philadelphia 76ers for the final play-in tournament spot entering Sunday.
