Levis: No issue with Callahan yelling at me
Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis didn't have a problem with head coach Brian Callahan shouting at him after an ill-advised turnover because he says he was yelling at himself, too.
"He told us straight up, he's not a yeller and a screamer, but he can be, and there's certain situations that allow for that, and that definitely was one of those situations," Levis said Wednesday, per AtoZ Sports. "I didn't bat an eye at it. I took the coaching. I was yelling at myself in my head the same way he was yelling at me."
Levis continued: "He had confidence in me on the next play taking that shot. That was cool to feel, coming back on the field after that turnover, even though we came back with another one after that. I don't have any problem with how he handled himself."
Levis cost the Titans an opportunity in the red zone after his attempted lateral to running back Tyjae Spears was recovered by the New York Jets in Sunday's loss. The gaffe followed a pick-6 in the Titans' first game of the season that gave the Chicago Bears the lead and eventual Week 1 win.
Callahan criticized Levis' decision-making after Sunday's game, calling the turnover "dumb." He added Monday that he didn't regret how he felt in the moment but had no hard feelings for Levis.
"I'm human like everybody else," Callahan said Monday. "I have blackout moments where I'll lose my mind."
A second-round pick in 2023, Levis has thrown for two touchdowns and three interceptions over his first two starts of the season. Tennessee will face the Green Bay Packers in Week 3.
