The Thanksgiving Day matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and Dallas Cowboys became the most-watched regular-season game in NFL history.

A staggering 57.2 million viewers tuned in to watch the Cowboys' 31-28 victory over the Chiefs. The holiday clash shattered the previous record by 36%, with viewership up 47% versus last year, according to CBS Sports. The game carried a peak audience of 61 million.

The regular-season class shattered the previous record that was set after a 2022 Thanksgiving Day game between the Cowboys and New York Giants that drew 42 million viewers for the Fox broadcast, per The Athletic's Richard Deitsch.

The NFL was rewarded with a record-breaking viewership after scheduling two of the league's most-popular franchises on one of the most watched days of the regular season.

The Green Bay Packers' 31-24 win over the Detroit Lions earlier in the day saw an average of 47.7 million viewers tune in on Fox and Tubi.
