Cornerback Darius Slay won't report to the Buffalo Bills after they claimed him on waivers Wednesday, his agent Drew Rosenhaus told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Slay is unsure if he will continue playing and is contemplating retirement. The Pittsburgh Steelers released him earlier this week after he was a healthy scratch in their Week 13 contest against Buffalo.

"Slay is honored that a first-class organization like the Bills claimed him, but he is going to take some time away from football right now and decide in the next few days if he wants to keep playing," Rosenhaus said.

The 34-year-old signed a one-year contract with the Steelers after a five-year run with the Philadelphia Eagles. Philly reportedly made a claim to get Slay off waivers, but the Bills had priority, and there was mutual interest in a return to the Eagles, sources told the Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane.

Buffalo was hoping Slay would provide depth to its cornerback room behind Tre'Davious White, Christian Benford, Taron Johnson, and Maxwell Hairston.

Slay suited up in 10 games for Pittsburgh this season, recording 36 tackles and three passes defended. He has 28 interceptions and nine Pro Bowl selections during his 13-year career.
