Rafael Nadal made short work of Daniil Medvedev on Sunday, capturing his second consecutive Rogers Cup title in straight sets.

The Spaniard needed just over an hour to dispatch the young Russian, winning 6-3, 6-0.

Nadal, who's ranked No. 2 in the world, has now won five Rogers Cup trophies. In addition to last year's triumph, he also came out on top in 2013, 2008, and 2005. The latter, his first-ever hard court conquest, came at the expense of Andre Agassi.

Only Ivan Lendl (six) has won the Canadian tournament more times than Nadal, who improved his record to 41-6 in 2019.

"He's playing great," Nadal said of Medvedev after the match. "But I think I played a very high level today, changing the rhythm of the ball all the time, combining the slices with high balls, then going to the net.

"I think I played a great match."
