MONACO (AP) — U.S. Olympic sprinter Fred Kerley has been provisionally suspended for "whereabouts failures" under the sport's anti-doping rules, the Athletics Integrity Unit said Tuesday.Lawyers for the 30-year-old Kerley hit back in a statement posted on the athlete's account on X."Fred Kerley has already notified the AIU that he intends to contest the allegation that he has violated the anti-doping rules related to whereabouts failures, as he strongly believes that one of (or) more of his alleged missed tests should be set aside either because he was not negligent or because the Doping Control Officer did not do what was reasonable under the circumstances to locate him at his designated location," the statement said.<div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div>It added: "Fred will not comment further at this time out of respect for the process, and looks forward to presenting his case to the appointed hearing panel."Kerley won the Olympic silver medal in the 100 meters at the Tokyo Games and the bronze in Paris last year. Richardson then appeared to get in Coleman's way with Coleman trying to step around her. Coleman was shoved into a wall.Later in the report, it said Richardson appeared to throw an item at Coleman, with the TSA indicating it may have been headphones.The officer said in the report: "I was told Coleman did not want to participate any further in the investigation and declined to be a victim."A message was left with Coleman from The Associated Press.Richardson wrote that Coleman "came into my life &amp; gave me more than a relationship but a greater understanding of unconditional love from what I've experienced in my past."She won the 100 at the 2023 world championships in Budapest and finished with the silver at the Paris Games last summer. MIAMI (AP) — A misdemeanor battery case in South Florida against professional boxer Gervonta "Tank" Davis was dropped Tuesday, a month after his arrest on the domestic violence charge.The online docket for Miami-Dade County's clerk of court showed that the charge was dropped and the case closed.Davis, 30, was picked up shortly after midnight on July 11 near the popular Lincoln Road area of Miami Beach.<div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div>Davis and his vehicle information had been added to a law enforcement database, and a license plate reader set up in Miami Beach flagged his car. Miami Beach police made the initial stop and then turned Davis over to Doral police. He was later released on a $10,000 bond.The charge was connected to a report made in June by Davis' former domestic partner in Doral, a residential city in western Miami-Dade. According to a police report, the mother of his two children said Davis struck the back of her head and slapped her during an argument while she was taking one of their children out of his car.Davis, who is from Baltimore, is in the regular conversation for best pound-for-pound boxer. Now, state attorneys are considering their next moves, including an appeal.Superior Court Judge Robert Broadie vacated and dismissed their convictions late last week following a January hearing in Forsyth County.Nathaniel Arnold Cauthen, Rayshawn Denard Banner, Christopher Levon Bryant and Jermal Matthew Tolliver had been found guilty in trials in 2004 or 2005 for the killing of Nathaniel Jones. The four were all 14 or 15 years old when they and another teen were arrested.<div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div>Jones, 61, died from a heart attack outside his Winston-Salem home after being tied up, beaten and robbed.A three-judge panel <a href="https://apnews.com/article/nba-entertainment-sports-crime-north-carolina-c8eb56b56c80fdb074b0875bc99c1c3f">previously had denied the defendants’ innocence claims</a> after testimony in a 2022 hearing.But Broadie’s order, filed Friday, cited recanted testimony from a key witness, poor legal representation and questionable actions by police, the Winston-Salem Journal <a href="https://journalnow.com/news/local/crime-courts/article_04e9e5f8-b344-4cb1-a6a2-dd09ce1f632b.html">reported</a>. "He's a great player, a leader, great teammate. It's always difficult to compete against him because he's such a good competitor, but we're gonna give it our best shot today."Correa, who waived his no-trade clause to return to Houston, is back after playing for the Twins since 2022. The top pick in the 2012 draft, he spent his first eight seasons with the Astros, pairing with Bregman for many of those years to transform the Astros from league laughingstock to perennial contender. He's been great in the nine games since the trade and entered Monday batting .405 with 15 hits, including two homers and six RBIs.He said returning to the team where his career began after being gone for four years is surreal."It's a second chance to come back here and put on this uniform and it's a chance that I will never take for granted," he said. "I'm gonna go out there and give it my best every single day I go out there."Correa, who has been slowed by injuries in recent years, said he's feeling rejuvenated since rejoining the Astros and moving to third base after spending his entire career playing shortstop."Being at third base I don't get as tired, so I feel like my legs are a lot fresher," he said.Bregman, who spent years playing third base in Houston while Correa was at shortstop, has no doubt that he'll excel at his new position."He's going to do great over there," Bregman said. "He's got an incredible arm. We always used to say if he catches the ball, the guy is out because of how good the arm is and he's going to make the transition great. He's a Platinum Glove winner at shortstop, so third base should be pretty easy for him."Though Bregman faced the Astros recently in Boston when the Red Sox swept a three-game series, he admitted that Monday would be emotional because of all the memories he made here. He spoke of what stuck out to him the most from his time in Houston."I'd say the championships and just seeing how resilient the city is and how it comes together when times are tough," he said. "And the people are great, my teammates, the coaches, everything, all the memories in the clubhouse, busting our tail trying to find a way to win a baseball game every single day, the everyday grind of it, it was fun for us."As for Correa, he's soaking up every minute of being back with the team. The best part, he said, is reuniting with close friend and second baseman Jose Altuve."As soon as I got to Boston, I gave him a big hug and I told him I missed him," Correa said. "He's an unbelievable player, but the human side of it, I get to hang out with him after the games, we get to go eat after the games (and) we just talk shop. It's something that I definitely missed a lot and I get to do it again so I'm not gonna take it for granted."Altuve shares his sentiments."I'm really excited he's back," he said. "I really enjoyed my time playing with him and I'm going to enjoy playing with him again and we're all excited about him."

A Hawaii real estate investor and broker are suing Shohei Ohtani, claiming the Los Angeles Dodgers star and his agent got them fired from a $240 million luxury housing development on the Big Island's coveted Hapuna Coast that they brought him in to endorse.According to the lawsuit filed in Hawaii Circuit Court on Friday, Ohtani's agent, Nez Balelo, increasingly demanded concessions from developer Kevin J. Hayes Sr. and real estate broker Tomoko Matsumoto before demanding that their business partner, Kingsbarn Realty Capital, drop them from the deal."Balelo and Ohtani, who were brought into the venture solely for Ohtani's promotional and branding value, exploited their celebrity leverage to destabilize and ultimately dismantle Plaintiffs' role in the project — for no reason other than their own financial self-interest," the lawsuit claims.<div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div>The suit accuses Ohtani and Balelo of tortious interference and unjust enrichment. Hayes, a developer with 40 years of experience, and Matsumoto, who was to be the listing agent for the houses averaging $17.3 million each, say that Ohtani and Balelo also tried to undermine their interests in a second, neighboring venture.A spokesman for Balelo's agency, CAA Baseball, declined comment. Attempts to reach Kingsbarn officials for comment were not immediately successful."This case is about abuse of power," the lawsuit says. "Defendants used threats and baseless legal claims to force a business partner to betray its contractual obligations and strip Plaintiffs of the very project they conceived and built."Defendants must be held accountable for their actions, not shielded by fame or behind-the-scenes agents acting with impunity. Plaintiffs bring this suit to expose Defendants' misconduct and to ensure that the rules of contract, fair dealing, and accountability apply equally to all — celebrity or not."Ohtani, 31, arrived from Japan in 2018 as perhaps the most heralded international star in baseball history, with an ability to both pitch and hit that made him doubly valuable to his team. A five-time All-Star and three-time Most Valuable Player, he signed a record 10-year, $700-million contract with the Dodgers before last season and helped the team win the 2024 World Series.Investment materials for The Vista at Mauna Kea Resort, which remained online Monday night, listed Hayes and Matsumoto as part of the management team, along with Kingsbarn. It called Ohtani "Japan's Babe Ruth" and the "1st Resident," giving him top billing ahead of the iconic Mauna Kea Resort, "one of the most celebrated hotels in Hawaii," Hapuna Beach, "rated the #1 beach in America by Conde Nast Traveler" and two golf courses – one designed by Arnold Palmer, the other by Robert Trent Jones Sr."Ohtani will act as the celebrity spokesperson for the project and has committed to purchasing one of the 14 residences within the project," the brochure says. "He also intends to spend significant time at The Vista in the offseason and will construct a small hitting and pitching facility for preseason training."The suit says the developers spent 11 years working on the deal and "as part of a bold marketing strategy" signed an endorsement deal in 2023 with Ohtani, "one of the most high-profile endorsements imaginable.""This partnership with Ohtani will elevate the demand and create buzz within the Japanese luxury vacation home market, which is a primary target audience for the project," the investment brochure said. "We see Shohei Ohtani's homeownership as having a significant impact on the global exposure of the project and expect to accelerate the pace of sales, thereby helping us achieve our pricing objectives."The suit said Balelo "quickly became a disruptive force," threatening to pull Ohtani from the deal if concessions weren't made."Kingsbarn began capitulating to Balelo's every whim," the suit said. "Over time, it became increasingly obvious that Kingsbarn was more concerned about preserving its relationship with Ohtani than honoring its obligations to its business partners."Last month, in what the suit called "a coordinated ambush," Kingsbarn fired Hayes and Matsumoto."Kingsbarn openly admitted during the call that Balelo had demanded the terminations and that they were being done solely to placate him," the suit said. "Plaintiffs stand to lose millions of dollars in compensation tied to projected homebuilding profit, construction management fees, and broker commissions."

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Quarterback Matthew Stafford did not practice with the Los Angeles Rams on Monday as originally scheduled.The 37-year-old Stafford <a href="https://apnews.com/article/la-rams-qb-matthew-stafford-17b875b6c7d375ccc84a7b8a00234bf3">has yet to practice in training camp</a> or the preseason this summer while dealing with an aggravated disk, causing back soreness.Coach Sean McVay said last weekend that Stafford would participate in individual work Monday morning, but Stafford instead attended the practice in street clothes at the Rams’ training complex in Woodland Hills.<div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div>“He didn’t feel good enough, and we didn’t think (practicing) was the right thing to do based on how he woke up feeling today,” McVay said.Stafford went through a lengthy workout last Saturday before the Rams’ <a href="https://apnews.com/article/rams-cowboys-score-stetson-bennett-e1ba6848d85ad2ed79124310aac2608f">preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys</a>, making roughly 70 throws of all lengths.But Stafford’s back “didn’t respond the way that you wanted it to,” McVay said.“When he was out here working out, it was great, and then it’s like anything else, let’s communicate. We all know there’s nobody that’s tougher than this guy, and so we are going to still be safe. But I think more than anything, he wants to be out there more than anybody.”McVay said he didn’t know whether Stafford would attempt to practice on Tuesday. He also said the Rams and Stafford have never discussed the possibility of surgery to fix the problem: “I haven’t gone down that road yet, in terms of those types of conversations. There have been a lot of conversations about what’s the best method of how we want to approach it, and that hasn’t been something that comes up yet.”McVay has repeatedly downplayed the severity of Stafford’s latest injury, claiming the quarterback could play in games if the Rams were in the regular season. McVay stepped back slightly from that stance Monday, saying: “I don’t know that. I think he still probably would be able to play it, just based on how he feels.”The coach said the Rams will structure Stafford’s work over the next four weeks “so that he can feel as good as possible when we open up against Houston (on Sept. 7). I do think it’s important to be able to get some work in, but not at the expense of following the plan that we’ve talked about.”The Super Bowl-winning quarterback is entering his 17th NFL season. The No. 1 overall pick in 2009 by Detroit, Stafford led the Rams to the playoffs in three of his first four seasons on the West Coast.Jimmy Garoppolo is the Rams’ backup quarterback. He had only replaced Mats Hummels in the 19th minute of the veteran defender's farewell game.
