LONDON (AP) — Prince Harry went to Toronto for events marking the end of World War I and found himself on an apology tour for offending Canadians.Speaking to a military charity on Thursday night, the Duke of Sussex sought to once again address the "blue-hatted elephant in the room." He was referring to his widely ridiculed choice to wear a Los Angeles Dodgers cap at a World Series game in Los Angeles against the Toronto Blue Jays.It was seen as a major snub in Canada, a British Commonwealth nation, where his father, King Charles III, is the head of state. WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump has pardoned former New York Mets great Darryl Strawberry on past tax evasion and drug charges, citing the 1983 National League Rookie of the Year's post-career embrace of his Christian faith and longtime sobriety.Strawberry was an outfielder and eight-time All-Star, including seven with the Mets from 1983-90. He hit 335 homers and had 1,000 RBIs and 221 stolen bases in 17 seasons.Plagued by later legal, health and personal problems, Strawberry was indicted for tax evasion and eventually pleaded guilty in 1995 to a single felony count. That was based on his failure to report $350,000 in income from autographs, personal appearances and sales of memorabilia.<div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div>Strawberry agreed to pay more than $430,000 as part of the case. He was diagnosed with colon cancer and underwent surgery and chemotherapy in 1998.The following year, Strawberry was sentenced to probation and suspended from baseball after pleading no contest to charges of possession of cocaine and soliciting a prostitute. He eventually spoke in court about struggling with depression, and was charged with violating his probation numerous times — including on his 40th birthday in 2002.Strawberry ultimately served 11 months in Florida state prison, and was released in 2003.A White House official said Friday that Trump approved a pardon for Strawberry, who had served time and paid back taxes. The NCAA revoked the eligibility of six men’s college basketball players <a href="https://apnews.com/article/ncaa-basketball-sports-betting-a30eaa5f0ec65c4638a8cd01a10842b2">for allegations of sports betting</a> on Friday in three separate cases at New Orleans, Mississippi Valley and Arizona State.
The NCAA Committee on Infractions released findings from an investigation that concluded Cedquavious Hunter, Dyquavian Short, Jamond Vincent, Donovan Sanders, Alvin Stredic and Chatton “BJ” Freeman either manipulated their performances to lose games, not cover bet lines or ensure certain prop bets were reached, or provided information that enabled others to do so during the 2024-25 regular season.
The NCAA said last month it had been investigating at least 30 current or former players for gambling allegations. Its push to clean up college sports in the era of legal sports betting comes as <a href="https://apnews.com/article/nba-betting-arrests-rozier-billups-6e39ab0b6b82c3c872e17c3b9cfbc604">the NBA and professional sports grapple</a> with what the FBI has called a sophisticated gambling ring that involved organized crime families.

The NCAA also banned <a href="https://apnews.com/article/gambling-ncaa-fresno-state-san-jose-state-79cb4a2a1f9f23a2cb22902a9694aca1">three college basketball players</a> in September for betting on their own games at Fresno State and San Jose State.
The violations at New Orleans against Hunter, Short and Vincent came to light after the NCAA received a tip about game manipulation. The NCAA said a student-athlete overheard the three players discuss a third party placing a bet on their game against McNeese State on Dec. 28, 2024. New Orleans lost 86-61.
That same student-athlete reported that during a timeout near the end of the game, Short instructed him not to score any more points. New Orleans suspended all three student-athletes for the remainder of the season while it investigated the allegations.
The NCAA investigation showed that the three players manipulated their performances in seven games from December through January to lose by more points than the spread for that game.
The violations against Freeman were uncovered when the NCAA reviewed text messages involving Mykell Robinson, who played at Fresno State. Records on Robinson’s phone indicated that on four separate occasions between November and December 2024, Freeman knowingly provided information to Robinson, who was betting on Freeman through daily fantasy sports accounts.
Freeman also knowingly provided information on at least two occasions to his then-girlfriend, who was also betting on Freeman.
The NCAA reached out to an integrity monitoring service to review Mississippi Valley games after a related, but separate NBA <a href="https://apnews.com/article/nba-betting-prop-terry-rozier-bf290e76f66d4ff2c2aaf653ecb76b1e">gambling ring</a> that was uncovered earlier this year showed potential ties to college basketball, including the school.
The service indicated betting trends for the Mississippi Valley games on Jan. 6 against Alabama A&amp;M were suspicious. Mississippi Valley lost 79-67.
During an interview with the NCAA, a men’s basketball student-athlete said that before the team’s Dec. 21, 2024, game, he overhead Sanders on the phone with an unknown third party talking about “throwing the game.”
Sanders asked the student-athlete to participate in the call because the third party had told Sanders the individual intended to bet on the game and wanted to know that another of Sanders’ teammates would participate in the scheme.
The student-athlete denied altering his performance or receiving money from Sanders or any other individuals. Sanders texted the same student-athlete after that game and told him to delete their messages.
During a second interview, Sanders could not explain the student-athlete’s account of the events or the text messages. He did say, however, that he and Stredic were offered money to throw the team’s Jan. 6 game by another anonymous caller, who instructed them to perform poorly in the first half.
The enforcement staff demonstrated that Sanders knowingly provided information to a third party for the purposes of sports betting for two games and Stredic did the same for one game.
This all comes in the wake of the NCAA potentially allowing student athletes and staff to bet on professional sports. It was originally approved by all three Divisions and was set to go into effect on Nov. 1, but late last month the Division I Board voted to delay the start date until Nov. 22.
A rarely used rule allows 30 days for each Division I school to vote to rescind a proposal if it is adopted by less than 75% of the Division I cabinet. Even if the rule passes, no college sports are allowed to be bet on by players.

That's what the Milan clubs are hoping.But Inter Milan president Giuseppe Marotta expressed concern on Friday that slow Italian bureaucracy could delay the project.Inter and AC Milan completed their purchase of the 99-year-old stadium and surrounding area from the city on Wednesday — clearing the way for the Serie A clubs to tear it down and jointly build a new 71,500-seat arena.<div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div>The idea is to have the new stadium ready for when Italy co-hosts the 2032 European Championship with Turkey."It is clear that the objective is to be ready well before the start of Euro 2032 to ensure that this new stadium can be used during the European Championship," Marotta said outside the Football Business Forum in Milan on Friday."We hope that all this can happen because we are faced with a typically very slow Italian bureaucracy. I hope that it can be completed by 2030."<h3>'The slowness of bureaucracy'</h3>Marotta was one of the speakers at the forum, participating in the opening panel. And there he lambasted Italian bureaucracy at length."In the last 15 years, 50 stadiums have been built in Europe with an investment of around 20 billion," he said. "In that time only three stadiums have been modernized in Italy, so we are way behind."So we need to ask ourselves why. I don't think that the main problem is the need to have more money, but instead the slowness of bureaucracy here."Both Milan clubs are owned by American firms — Milan by RedBird, Inter by Oaktree."Just think, two of the most important clubs in Italy are foreign-owned," Marotta added. "That means that the Italian system isn't capable of supporting elite sport."The clubs already announced agreements with architectural firms Foster + Partners and Manica to design the new stadium. The venue will be part of a project covering approximately 281,000 square meters (more than 3 million square feet).<h3>New stadium to be open daily</h3>The deal to purchase San Siro was valued at 197 million euros ($226 million) and Milan president Paolo Scaroni said the clubs would invest more than a billion euros in building the new stadium.It has been estimated the clubs could each make as much as 180 million euros ($208 million) a year from the new arena. For now, they make around 80 million euros ($93 million).Increased revenue would come from attracting tourists on non-match days — to visit the museum or tour the stadium — as well as hosting concerts and other events and potentially selling the naming rights to the new arena."We want to build the best stadium in Europe because Milan is one of the capitals of football in Europe and needs and deserves to have a phenomenal infrastructure," Scaroni said at Friday's forum. PARIS (AP) — The injuries are piling up so much for Paris Saint-Germain that coach Luis Enrique is questioning his management of the squad.PSG's home defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Tuesday was compounded by injuries to three major players: Ballon d'Or winner Ousmane Dembele (calf tear), right back Achraf Hakimi (sprained ankle) and left back Nuno Mendes (sprained knee).They were arguably PSG's three best players last season and they all face weeks out, as does rising star Desire Doue (thigh tear).
