Hamilton's teammate Valtteri Bottas placed second to help continue Mercedes' dominant start to the 2020 campaign. The team has taken every race since the circuit kicked off in Austria.
"Obviously there's a relatively big gap between us and third place, but it doesn't matter at the end of the day - Valtteri is pushing me right to the limit. He's been doing such a fantastic job all weekend," said Hamilton, according to Sky Sports.
It wasn't completely smooth sailing for the Brit, who suffered a spin in Q2 that nearly derailed Mercedes' grand plans.
"Obviously we had that spin," Hamilton said. "Qualifying is a lot about confidence-building and man, I was already down and down in the first sector every lap. I don't know how, but I took some deep breaths and managed to compose myself.
"Q3 still wasn't perfect but still a really clean lap, and the second one even better. It never gets old that's for sure."
