Houssem Aouar is staying at Lyon for at least one more season.

The Ligue 1 outfit ended negotiations with Arsenal over a potential transfer because the Gunners refused to improve their bid to €50 million, according to The Guardian's Fabrizio Romano.

Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain expressed interest in signing Aouar as well, RMC Sport's Mohamed Bouhafsi reports.

However, neither club pushed to complete a deal.

Arsenal were reportedly prepared to increase their bid from the €35 million that was initially rejected, but the north London side was unwilling to meet Lyon's asking price.

Lyon also turned down an offer involving Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi in recent weeks.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas lowered his demands from €60 million due to the economic downturn during the coronavirus pandemic.

Arsenal will now try to sign Chelsea midfielder Jorginho, according to ESPN's Julien Laurens. They could also revive efforts to sign Atletico Madrid's Thomas Partey but may face more resistance from the Spanish side. Atletico reportedly insist Arsenal pay Partey's €50-million release clause.
