Leverkusen bolster attack with addition of Martin Terrier from Rennes

German champions Bayer Leverkusen on Thursday signed uncapped French forward Martin Terrier from Ligue 1 Rennes, the two clubs announced.

"It's been my wish to move to a big club abroad in Europe after seven years as a professional in France," Terrier told Leverkusen's website.

"It's fantastic to be a part of this team."

Leverkusen said they had signed the 27-year-old until 2029 but did not mention a fee.

"In Martin Terrier we've gained a prolific, fast and intelligent forward," said Leverkusen managing director Simon Rolfes.

"Martin is a strong finisher and versatile - a good footballer who fits into our team superbly."

Terrier, who has appeared for France at under-21 level, started his career at Lille and has had stints at Strasbourg and Lyon. 

He played 141 matches and scored 51 goals for Rennes and has "written his name in the club's history," said the team on their website.
