Cyborg vs. Anderson set for UFC 214, De Randamie stripped of title

Cris "Cyborg" Justino vs. Megan Anderson will co-headline UFC 214 on July 29 in Anaheim, Calif. with the women's featherweight title on the line, the UFC announced Monday.

At the same time, the promotion announced that 145-pound champion Germaine de Randamie has been stripped of the title due to her unwillingness to fight Cyborg.

"UFC has informed Germaine de Randamie and her management team that she is being removed as the women's featherweight champion due to her unwillingness to fight the No. 1 ranked contender, Cris 'Cyborg' Justino," the UFC said in a statement provided to ESPN. "UFC maintains that any champion is expected to accept fights against the top contenders in their respective weight classes in order to maintain the integrity of the sport."

De Randamie won the inaugural women's featherweight title by defeating Holly Holm at UFC 208 in February. When Cyborg and Anderson square off, it will be the second fight in the history of the division.

Anderson had been previously booked to defend her Invicta FC title against Helena Kolesnyk on July 15, but Tonya Evinger will now take on the newcomer in a three-round non-title bout in the Invicta FC 24 main event, the promotion announced Monday.

A light heavyweight title bout between reigning champion Daniel Cormier and former titleholder Jon Jones is expected to headline the card.
