Overeem, Harris agree to headline UFC D.C. event
Heavyweights Alistair Overeem and Walt Harris have agreed to a bout that will headline UFC Fight Night on Dec. 7 in Washington, D.C., the promotion confirmed Wednesday.
Overeem (45-17, 1 NC) is one of the most well-known and accomplished heavyweights in mixed martial arts history. He currently ranks seventh in the division after two straight TKO victories over Sergei Pavlovich and Alexey Oleynik in November and April, respectively.
The 39-year-old worked his way out of title contention in his two fights prior to that win streak, losing to Francis Ngannou and Curtis Blaydes.
Harris (13-7, 1 NC) is also climbing the heavyweight rankings after knocking out Oleynik in 12 seconds during their July clash. The 36-year-old hasn't lost during his last four fights dating back to November 2017.
The D.C. Fight Night card also currently features two notable women's fights, with Claudia Gadelha squaring off against Cynthia Calvillo and Aspen Ladd facing Yana Kunitskaya.
