The co-main event for UFC's Aug. 22 Fight Night card is off, as middleweight contender Yoel Romero has withdrawn from his bout against Uriah Hall due to an undisclosed injury, sources told ESPN's Marc Raimondi.
Romero's withdrawal continues a string of bad luck for Hall. The veteran middleweight was scheduled to fight Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza twice this year, but both battles were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic - Souza himself tested positive ahead of their May 8 matchup.
Hall, the UFC's ninth-ranked middleweight, has won two straight fights after a TKO loss to No. 1 contender Paulo Costa in July 2018. "Prime Time" most recently earned a split decision win over Antonio Carlos Junior last September.
Meanwhile, Romero is currently riding a three-fight losing streak, though all were to elite opponents. He was on the wrong end of a unanimous decision against current champion Israel Adesanya at UFC 248 in March.
The promotion's Aug. 22 Fight Night will be headlined by a bantamweight clash between Frankie Edgar and Pedro Munhoz.
