The Dallas Mavericks have requested waivers on Kostas Antetokounmpo, the team announced Friday.

"We are excited for Kostas to pursue other professional opportunities," team president Donnie Nelson said in a statement. "Kostas worked very hard to improve his game and we are proud to have been a step in his development. We wish him all the best."

The Philadelphia 76ers selected Antetokounmpo with the 60th pick in the 2018 NBA Draft before trading him to Dallas in a draft-day deal.

Though he made just two brief appearances with the parent club in his rookie season, Antetokounmpo did receive steady playing time with the G League's Texas Legends, averaging 10.6 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks in 25.4 minutes per game.

Kostas is the younger brother of reigning league MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks. Their eldest brother, Thanasis Antetokounmpo, is also signed with the Bucks.
