Detroit Pistons star forward Blake Griffin will be out until at least the first week of November as he continues to undergo treatment for left hamstring and posterior knee soreness, the team announced Tuesday.
The 30-year-old Griffin enjoyed a tremendous bounce-back season in 2018-19. He averaged a career-high 24.5 points and a team-best 5.4 assists over 75 regular-season appearances while being named an All-Star for the first time since 2015.
However, his body began to wear down later in the season, and he played just two games in the Pistons' first-round defeat to the Milwaukee Bucks in the playoffs.
The Pistons also announced Tuesday that 2019 first-round pick Sekou Doumbouya will not travel with the team for Wednesday's season opener in Indiana against the Pacers. The No. 15 overall pick is currently in the concussion protocol.
Meanwhile, veteran forward Markieff Morris is listed as questionable versus the Pacers due to lower back tightness. Guard Reggie Jackson is probable to play despite also dealing with lower back tightness.
