There's growing optimism that LeBron James will make his anticipated return to the lineup when the Los Angeles Lakers face the Celtics in Boston on Friday, sources tell ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

James last played on Nov. 2 in a win over the Houston Rockets. He's missed the last seven games since then with an abdominal strain.

The 36-year-old superstar was off to a strong start before being sidelined, averaging 24.8 points, seven assists, and 5.5 rebounds in six appearances.

Los Angeles has relied more heavily on Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook in James' absence, going 3-4 over that span. The Lakers' record stands at 8-7 overall.
