Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards defended the amount of threes he's taking to begin the season.
"F--k em," Edwards said Friday when asked what he'd say to someone who thinks he's taking too many threes.
Edwards led Minnesota in scoring with 29 points in Friday night's 119-116 victory over the rival Denver Nuggets, with 21 coming from beyond the arc. The 23-year-old ranks first on the team in made threes per game (5.8), attempts per game (13.4), and 3-point shooting percentage (43.3%). He leads the NBA in 3-pointers made with 29 in five contests.
Edwards averaged 2.4 makes from beyond the arc on 6.7 attempts last season, a 35.7% shooting percentage. In his first four seasons, he connected on 35.3% of his shots from deep, a shade below league average.
Edwards' emphasis on taking threes has drawn attention from some league analysts as he's changed his offensive game.
The Timberwolves face the San Antonio Spurs on the second night of a back-to-back Saturday.
