Throughout the college basketball season, we'll highlight some of the top betting trends and angles for the biggest games on the schedule. Here are the tips for tonight's slate.

Northwestern at No. 7 Maryland (-12.5, 130.5)

Maryland's fifth-ranked defense has been on a tear recently, especially at home, where the Terrapins are 9-5 against the spread. The under's gone 11-3 in those 14 games, while Northwestern has gone 8-3 to the under in its last 11 contests and 5-1 to the under in its last six.

Trend play: Under 130.5

Illinois at No. 9 Penn State (-6.5, 139.5)

If you didn't believe in Penn State earlier this season, you probably should now amid an 8-0-1 ATS run and a nine-game straight-up winning streak. The Nittany Lions are also 8-4-1 ATS as home favorites this season and have covered seven straight against Illinois.

Trend play: Penn State -6.5

No. 10 Kentucky at LSU (-2.5, 149.5)

Kentucky's in a rare spot here - as a top-10 road 'dog facing an unranked opponent - but it's been profitable so far. This season, teams in that situation have gone 10-3 ATS with nine outright wins. Meanwhile, LSU has dropped five of its last six home games against the number.

Trend play: Kentucky +2.5

No. 15 Creighton at No. 19 Marquette (-3, 156)

Both teams are coming in hot, with Marquette riding a 7-1 ATS run and Creighton covering six of its last seven. But when top-25 teams meet, take the points. Underdogs in ranked matchups have gone 32-21-2 ATS (60.4%) this season with a 10-2-1 ATS record in their last 13 tries.

Trend play: Creighton +3
