UCLA lands New Mexico transfer Donovan Dent
Former New Mexico guard Donovan Dent will head to UCLA for his senior season, he told CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein.
Dent was one of the top players in the transfer portal after finishing as the 12th-leading scorer in the country this season. The Mountain West Player of the Year averaged 20.4 points, 2.3 rebounds, 6.4 assists, and 1.4 steals while shooting 40.9% from three across 35 games.
New Mexico also lost head coach Richard Pitino to Xavier earlier in March. The departures come after the Lobos finished first in their conference and advanced to the Round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament.
UCLA desperately lacked a scoring point guard and will replace Dylan Andrews, who entered the portal, with Dent.
The Bruins finished 23-11 overall this campaign, including 13-7 in Big Ten play. Tennessee eliminated UCLA in the second round of March Madness.
