LSU defensive coordinator Dave Aranda is the leading candidate to become Baylor's next head coach, ESPN's Adam Rittenberg reports.

Virginia Tech head coach Justin Fuente is apparently staying with the Hokies after initial reports suggested he was the Bears' top choice to replace Matt Rhule, who left Baylor to coach the NFL's Carolina Panthers.

The national championship-winning Tigers already lost offensive coordinator Joe Brady, who was hired by Rhule to run the Panthers' offense. LSU has also seen seven underclassmen declare for the NFL draft.

Baylor went 11-3 this campaign and made an appearance in the Sugar Bowl, just two seasons after going 1-11.
