Portland State coach Bruce Barnum covers $14K beer tab for fans
Portland State head coach Bruce Barnum followed through on his promise to buy beer for anyone who attended the Vikings' home opener against Western Oregon.
Barnum extended the offer to Portland State fans while appearing on the "BFT Podcast" with The Oregonian's John Canzano ahead of Saturday's game.
"I've got a deal for you. Anybody who heard me on your show ... just say, 'I heard Barney on the BFT' at the Barny Beer Garden and I'll buy your beer," Barnum said. "I'm not buying your ticket, but I'll buy your beer."
Plenty of fans took Barnum up on the offer, as the coach tweeted a photo Tuesday showing a $14,448 beer tab he paid.
