Report: JT Daniels entering transfer portal
Georgia quarterback JT Daniels entered the transfer portal, The Atheltic's Max Olson reports.
Daniels started seven games in two seasons with the Bulldogs after transferring from USC. However, the 21-year-old was supplanted by Stetson Bennett, who led Georgia to its first national championship since 1980.
Bennett announced Wednesday he'll return to Georgia for one more season.
Daniels just completed his fifth season, but he can return for one more year due to the NCAA's COVID-19 exemption.
The quarterback won all four starts to finish the 2020 campaign, throwing for 1,231 yards and 10 touchdowns against two interceptions while averaging 10.3 yards per attempt.
Daniels won his three starts in 2021 and was playing solidly - 722 yards and seven touchdowns against three interceptions - before suffering multiple injuries that opened the door for Stetson to take over.
Bulldogs receiver Jermaine Burton is also entering the transfer portal, according to ESPN's Adam Rittenberg. Burton racked up 901 receiving yards and eight touchdowns in two seasons with the team.
