South Carolina suspended edge rusher Dylan Stewart indefinitely after he punched Alabama tight end Josh Ford during Saturday's game, head coach Shane Beamer announced Sunday.
Stewart punched Ford's helmet during the fourth quarter of a 49-18 loss to the Crimson Tide.
"There is a standard of how we do things in our program and that is not it," Beamer said, according to David Cloninger of The Post and Courier.
Beamer added that Stewart's future with the program will be decided "in the next day or two" and that the star defensive end won't play against Kentucky in Week 5.

"I didn't see (the punch) until just now, and that's unacceptable," Beamer said following Saturday's game, according to Brad Crawford of CBS Sports. "That's not how we do things around here, and I'm embarrassed to see that because that's not what we're about. I knew we had a penalty. I didn't know what happened."
In the first half, Beamer confronted Stewart for a different incident as he came off the field. Stewart delivered a late hit on Alabama quarterback Keelon Russell that had extended the Crimson Tide's drive.
Later in the fourth quarter, Stewart also refused to come off the field. The South Carolina coaching staff forced him to sub out by putting freshman Julian Walker into the game.
Stewart is considered one of the top prospects in the 2027 NFL Draft. He has one tackle for loss this season through two games.
