It appears Derek Mason has yet to cool down after Middle Tennessee's loss to Jacksonville State on Saturday.
The Blue Raiders coach tore into Conference USA officials during his Monday press conference, saying his team submitted 17 plays to the league office where it felt the referees missed a holding call.
"I'm tired of the bullshit - excuse my french, but I'm tired," Mason said, according to Brett Walker of MTSU Sidelines. "We got to get to a point where these damn referees show up and do their damn job. There's over 17 submitted holding calls against a real good Jac State team that were ready and available and they were at the point of confrontation, and I thought this was straight up bull."
Mason's anger on the missed calls comes after his defense allowed 276 rushing yards and a touchdown on 39 carries by the Gamecocks. That performance came after the Blue Raiders allowed 130 yards or less on the ground in their previous two games against FBS competition.
The former Vanderbilt head coach said he isn't making an excuse for the loss, but he implored the officials to show improvement moving forward.
"These referees got to be better," Mason said. "They got to do their damn job and be better. That's a message going out to everybody who refs these damn games. Be better."
Middle Tennessee is off from Conference USA play this week with a trip to Kansas on the schedule.
