Denver Broncos head coach Vic Fangio announced Wednesday that right tackle Ja'Wuan James will miss "a couple (of) weeks" due to a knee injury suffered during Monday's loss to the Oakland Raiders, according to Kyle Fredrickson of The Denver Post.
Fangio categorized the injury as a "knee sprain."
In the offseason, the 27-year-old James signed a four-year, $51-million contract with Denver, which was the largest deal ever given to an offensive tackle. The Dolphins selected him 19th overall in 2014, and James spent his first five NFL seasons with Miami.
Third-year pro Elijah Wilkinson should continue to fill in for James when Denver meets the Chicago Bears in Week 2.
