Colts' Reich to miss start of camp after testing positive for COVID-19
Indianapolis Colts head coach Frank Reich will miss the beginning of training camp after testing positive for COVID-19, the team announced Monday.
"I'm excited for training camp, however I'm disappointed I won't be there with the team as we start," said Reich. "I'm fortunate to be fully vaccinated and I'm asymptomatic. I'm feeling well and I'm looking forward to returning as soon as I'm medically cleared."
Colts general manager Chris Ballard said Monday that more than 60% of his players have had at least one vaccination shot, according to Joel A. Erickson of Indy Star. Ballard added that one other member of the Indianapolis coaching staff tested positive.
The Colts and Washington Football Team had the two lowest COVID-19 vaccination rates among the 32 teams in the NFL as of July 16, Rob Maaddi of The Associated Press reported. Both clubs were reportedly below 50% vaccinated.
Reich is entering his fourth season at the helm of the Colts. He owns a 28-20 regular-season record and is 1-2 in the playoffs.
