Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins tested positive for COVID-19 and will miss Sunday's preseason opener against the Las Vegas Raiders, the team announced Friday.
The Vikings sent Cousins home from training camp Thursday with an illness but were unsure of the nature.
While the NFL has paused its COVID-19 protocols, players and staff are still required to follow CDC guidelines to isolate for five days following a positive test.
Cousins tested positive during the 2021 season and missed one game. He also sat out five days of last year's training camp as an unvaccinated close contact.
Backup signal-callers Kellen Mond and Sean Mannion will lead Minnesota's offense against the Raiders.
