Report: Sabres getting calls on Cozens
Buffalo Sabres forward Dylan Cozens is garnering interest from other NHL clubs.
Cozens is "legitimately wanted" by opposing squads, who've called the Sabres inquiring about him, reports Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.
The forward, who turns 24 in February, has collected only six goals and seven assists while averaging 17:53 of ice time across 29 games this season. However, he posted 31 tallies and 37 helpers over 81 contests in 2022-23.
Cozens signed a seven-year, $49.7-million contract extension with the Sabres during that breakout campaign in February 2023. He followed it up with 18 goals and 29 assists across 79 games in 2023-24.
Buffalo drafted Cozens seventh overall in 2019.
He starred with the WHL's Lethbridge Hurricanes and for Canada in two World Junior Championships. Cozens racked up 10 goals and 15 assists in 14 contests over the two tourneys in 2020 and 2021, helping his country win gold in the former and silver in the latter.
Cozens has also thrived at the World Championship, producing 16 tallies and eight helpers over 20 games across two tournaments in 2022 and 2024.
The Sabres came into Friday tied with the Detroit Red Wings for the sixth-worst points percentage in the NHL at .448. Their minus-8 goal differential ranked 20th in the league.
