The Simon Edvinsson saga still has yet to reach a resolution, and it doesn't appear to be nearing one either.
"I have zero interest in trading Simon Edvinsson," Detroit Red Wings interim general manager Shawn Horcoff said Wednesday, according to The Athletic's Max Bultman.
Horcoff added that he's been in constant contact with Edvinsson's agent, according to team reporter Daniella Bruce.
Edvinsson, who's a restricted free agent, reportedly prefers to be dealt rather than re-sign with Detroit.
The 23-year-old defenseman reported to training camp but later returned to his home in Sweden as the regular season approached without him having a new contract in place.
Edvinsson is coming off his three-year, $2.68-million rookie contract. Over 175 career games, the Swede has scored 19 goals, added 41 assists, and logged an average of over 21 minutes of ice time. He can become an unrestricted free agent in 2030.
Since reports of Edvinsson preferring a trade surfaced, the Boston Bruins have been named as one of several potential suitors for the 6-foot-6 defender.
Horcoff also said that there's no update regarding former captain Dylan Larkin's trade request, according to The Detroit News' Ted Kulfan. Larkin has one goal and one assist through four games this year.
Larkin, 30, has five years remaining on his current contract, which carries an average annual value of $8.7 million.
The Red Wings currently have over $17 million in available cap space, according to PuckPedia.
