The PGA versus LIV feud will escalate on the course in a few months' time when Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy face Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka in a made-for-TV event.

"I'm thrilled to partner with Scottie in what promises to be an exciting duel against Bryson and Brooks in Vegas this December," McIlroy told Golfweek's Eamon Lynch.

"This isn't just a contest between some of golf's major champions; it's an event designed to energize the fans. We're all here to put on a great show and contribute to a goodwill event that brings the best together again."

Representatives for the other three players also confirmed their participation. The event will take place in mid-December and will air in prime time on TNT, according to Lynch. It's unclear if it will be a continuation of The Match series, of which four events were held in Las Vegas.

The players will receive appearance fees but won't get prize money, sources told Lynch.

There's plenty of intrigue involving the two high-profile duos. In June, DeChambeau defeated McIlroy by a single stroke to win his second U.S. Open title after the Northern Irishman's late collapse.

McIlroy sits on the committee appointed to handle the ongoing negotiations between the PGA TOUR and the Saudi Arabian PIF, which funds LIV.

Scheffler remains in the top spot in the World Golf Rankings after winning the TOUR Championship and the $25-million prize for prevailing in the FedEx Cup playoffs Sunday.
