"We are confident this is the best group of 26 players to help us achieve success at the World Cup," head coach Pochettino said in a U.S. Soccer press release. "These were very difficult decisions, and we are thankful to all the players who were part of this journey. This group is very focused and ready to give everything they have to represent the United States and deliver performances that will make the fans and the country proud."
The United States, co-hosting the World Cup with Canada and Mexico, begins its campaign against Paraguay on June 12, followed by Australia (June 19) and Turkey (June 25) in Group D.
The 26 players selected Tuesday will immediately depart for a pre-tournament training camp. Their final friendlies before the World Cup are slated for May 31 against Senegal and June 6 versus Germany.
