Report: Wilder-Fury 3 slated for Oct. 3 in Las Vegas
The trilogy heavyweight title fight between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder will now take place on Oct. 3 in Las Vegas, sources told Mike Coppinger of The Athletic.
It will once again be broadcast as a pay-per-view collaboration between ESPN and FOX, according to Coppinger. The venue has yet to be chosen.
The much-anticipated fight was originally scheduled for July 18 at the MGM Grand. That changed on Tuesday when promoters announced the bout was being postponed due to the coronavirus.
However, the fight moving to October actually isn't tied to the ongoing global pandemic, sources told Coppinger. Rather, organizers always preferred the fall.
Wilder and Fury first met in 2018, resulting in a memorable and controversial split-decision draw. Fury won the rematch last month with a seventh-round knockout to claim the WBC heavyweight belt.
