The Miami Grand Prix will begin at 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, three hours earlier than expected due to heavy rainstorms that are forecasted to hit the area later in the afternoon.
"This decision has been taken to ensure the least amount of disruption to the race, and to ensure the maximum possible window to complete the grand prix in the best conditions and to prioritize the safety of drivers, fans, teams and staff," the FIA said in a statement.
The FIA, Formula 1, and the circuit's promoter met Saturday to discuss plans for Sunday's race before electing to move the event forward.
F1 teams have not had the chance to run their cars in a wet weather race since introducing new regulations for the start of this season.
McLaren's Oscar Piastri was among drivers to discuss the possibility of a wet race this weekend, saying Friday that he believed the new cars would be challenging to drive in the rain due to "some of the quirks that they have."
Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli is slated to start the race from pole position with Red Bull's Max Verstappen alongside him in second. Sunday's race will be 57 laps.
