For Rick Porcello, free agency is right around the corner. But the Boston Red Sox right-hander can't focus on anything except his poor play of late.

"I'm not thinking about it right now," the 2016 Cy Young winner said, according to Christopher Smith of MassLive. "I haven't gotten anybody out in two months. I've got to get somebody out again before taking those steps.

"Whatever’s going to happen is going to happen. It will take care of itself. Honestly, it’s been a tough year, frustrating year. It's been a grind physically and mentally. And I'm still here with the Red Sox and I plan to finish this contract."

Prior to the 2015 season, Porcello and the Red Sox agreed on a four-year extension worth $82.5 million that will expire following the 2019 campaign.

The 30-year-old has run into issues after becoming a somewhat controversial Cy Young winner, posting a 4.86 ERA over 95 starts since the beginning of 2017. The veteran owns a 5.77 ERA and 1.45 WHIP in 29 starts this season, and he leads the majors in earned runs allowed. Since the start of August, Porcello has given up 24 runs on 39 hits while walking 10 batters in 35 innings.
