Tigers chase Mariners' Kirby after 11 runs on 13 hits
It was a tough outing in Detroit for Seattle Mariners right-hander George Kirby on Tuesday.
The Tigers rocked Kirby to the tune of 11 runs on 13 hits, capped by a grand slam off the bat of Jake Rogers in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Kirby also allowed a pair of home runs to Tigers outfielder Kerry Carpenter, who was playing his first game since May 26 after missing time due to a back injury.
Following the game, Kirby was ready to turn the page and rebound in his next outing.
"I'm f-----g excited for Pittsburgh next week, I'll tell you that," Kirby said, per Adam Jude of the Seattle Times.
Only six of the 11 runs against Kirby were earned after the Mariners were charged with an error following the game. The Tigers eventually won the game 15-1.
Kirby's rough outing raised his season ERA from 3.13 to 3.42 in 144 2/3 innings.
