Mariners GM: Club has 'already had discussions' with Turner
Seattle Mariners general manager Justin Hollander is making it known he'd like to bring Justin Turner back next season.
"We've already had discussions with JT and reiterated our interest that we expressed at the end of last season," Hollander said, according to MLB.com's Daniel Kramer.
Turner played well down the stretch for the Mariners after being acquired from the Toronto Blue Jays. The 39-year-old put up a .766 OPS (128 OPS+) with five home runs and 24 RBIs in 48 games.
He also made a positive impression off the diamond.
"He's a player that connected with a lot of different parts of our clubhouse and really did make a connection with our team, with our coaches, (and) with our front office," Hollander said. "We'd love to have JT back."
Turner is a 16-year veteran with two All-Star appearances, two top-10 MVP finishes, and a World Series title on his decorated resume.
He owns an .821 OPS across 1,678 career games.
