Boston Red Sox outfielder Roman Anthony was removed from Monday's game against the Detroit Tigers in the bottom of the second inning due to right wrist discomfort.
Anthony suffered the injury on a swing in the first inning. After being visited by a trainer and having a lengthy conversation, he continued his at-bat and grounded into a fielder's choice.

Anthony took his position for the bottom of the first, but Masataka Yoshida replaced him in left field to start the second.
Anthony was an AL Rookie of the Year finalist in 2025 despite playing in just 71 games because of an oblique strain. However, he's had a slow start to his sophomore campaign, hitting .229/.354/.321 with one homer, five RBIs, and 20 walks across 130 plate appearances.
Boston signed the 21-year-old to an eight-year, $130-million extension in August.
