The New York Yankees came into Sutter Health Park and mashed the place to the ground.
New York went on an offensive rampage in the third inning of Sunday's game against the Athletics, plating 13 runs while batting around twice during the frame.
The Athletics entered the top of the third holding a 3-0 lead, but things quickly spiraled out of control for the home side. New York scored 10 runs before recording an out, with seven of those charged to A's starter Jacob Lopez. Max Schuemann made it 10-3 with a two-run double off reliever Michael Kelly, who allowed six runs in two-thirds of an inning.

The Yankees became the first team to score at least 10 runs in an inning before recording an out since the Boston Red Sox on May 7, 2009, against Cleveland, per YES Network.
By the time Jack Perkins, the second A's reliever, finally got Trent Grisham to fly out and end the frame, the Yankees held a 13-3 lead. All 11 of the Yankees' hits came during the top of the third.
Every Yankees player had at least two at-bats in the frame and reached base at least once. Ben Rice did the most individual damage during the inning, recording a pair of extra-base hits with four RBIs in his two plate appearances. Cody Bellinger and Anthony Volpe also had two hits apiece.

The Yankees' 13 runs were one shy of the franchise's single-inning record of 14, set on July 6, 1920, versus the Washington Senators. Sunday marks the first time that the Yankees have scored 13-plus runs in one frame since a 13-run ninth inning against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays on June 21, 2005, per the Yankees broadcast.
