The Milwaukee Brewers signed outfield prospect Luis Lara to a seven-year extension with three club options, they announced Tuesday.

The deal is worth $31 million in guaranteed money, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan. Lara can max out the contract at $79 million, Passan added.

Lara, 21, has yet to make his major-league debut and is hitting .338/.447/.500 with seven homers and 18 stolen bases over 56 games in Triple-A Nashville this year.

This marks the second long-term deal for a player yet to reach the majors for the Brewers this season after Milwaukee locked up shortstop Cooper Pratt to an eight-year, $50.75-million contract in March. Pratt still hasn't debuted and is hitting .248/.360/.391 with five home runs and 16 steals in 53 games with Lara in Triple-A.

Lara was originally signed by the Brewers as an international prospect out of Venezuela in 2022.

He ranks No. 5 in Milwaukee's system, according to MLB Pipeline.
