Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Shane Bieber will be activated from the 60-day injured list to make his season debut Monday against the Houston Astros, the team announced Saturday, according to Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.
Bieber's been sidelined since March due to lingering inflammation in his pitching elbow. The 31-year-old exercised his $16-million player option in November, which left many speculating that the 2020 AL Cy Young winner was injured.
The two-time All-Star posted a 6.88 ERA with 1.88 WHIP and 14 strikeouts over 17 innings during five minor-league rehab starts.
Bieber authored a 3.57 ERA with 1.02 WHIP and 8.3 K/9 in 40 1/3 innings (seven starts) last season and helped the Blue Jays reach the World Series following a trade from the Cleveland Guardians. He returned to the mound in 2025 after recovering from Tommy John surgery.
Bieber's return gives Toronto a formidable rotation that also includes Dylan Cease, Kevin Gausman, and Trey Yesavage.
