The Atlanta Braves acquired starting pitcher Tyler Mahle from the San Francisco Giants in a trade that sent right-hander Anthony Molina the other way, they announced Sunday.
Mahle has a 5.13 ERA this year but held a 2.18 mark last season with the Texas Rangers. He's been better lately, pitching to a 3.60 ERA in two June starts and a 2.82 ERA in four July outings. Before that, he was on the injured list with a hamstring injury.
The Braves add Mahle to a rotation that features Chris Sale, Martín Pérez, Bryce Elder, and Grant Holmes. Mahle has an 8.5 K/9 rate this season, his highest clip since 2023.

Atlanta leads the NL East by eight games over the Philadelphia Phillies, giving the Braves a golden opportunity to return to the playoffs after last year's 76-win debacle.
Molina, 24, was in his first campaign with Atlanta after being claimed off waivers from the Colorado Rockies in the winter. The righty owns a 6.89 ERA over 55 career appearances, with 53 of those coming from the bullpen.
