TORONTO (AP) — Right-hander Kyle Bradish was put on the 15-day injured list by the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday because of lower abdominal discomfort, effectively ending his season.
Bradish went 7-14 with a 4.12 ERA over 155 innings in 29 starts in his first full season following Tommy John surgery in June 2024. He returned to the Orioles on Aug, 26 last year and went 1-1 with a 2.53 ERA in six starts.
Bradish started against Toronto on Saturday, his 30th birthday, and gave up five runs and eight hits in three innings, his ninth consecutive winless outing. He was 0-5 with a 5.83 ERA after beating Boston on July 22.
He would not be eligible to return this year unless Baltimore rebounds to earn a playoff berth.
Bradish finished fourth in AL Cy Young Award voting in 2023, when he went 12-7 with a 2.83 ERA over 30 starts. Bradish in July signed a $90 million, five-year contract for 2027-31.
Yaramil Hiraldo was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk, where he was 1-0 with a 1 1.3 ERA in 15 games.
