Smith vs. Teixeira set for UFC Lincoln main event

Light heavyweight contenders will collide in a pivotal bout later this year.

Anthony Smith versus Glover Teixeira is set for the UFC Lincoln main event on April 25 in Lincoln, Neb., the promotion announced Friday.

Smith is coming off a fourth-round submission of Alexander Gustafsson last May. The former title challenger is 4-1 since moving up to 205 pounds in 2018. He faced champion Jon Jones last March but lost a lopsided decision.

Teixeira has won three straight bouts, including a split decision against Nikita Krylov and a second-round submission of Ion Cutelaba. The 40-year-old Brazilian faced Jones for the belt in 2014 and also lost by decision.

Four other bouts have been added to UFC Lincoln, including Antonina Shevchenko-Cynthia Calvillo at women's flyweight; Andrew Sanchez-Zak Cummings at middleweight; Anthony Rocco Martin-David Zawada at welterweight; and Evan Dunham-Michael Johnson at lightweight.
