Adesanya favored to regain UFC title vs. Du Plessis
Israel Adesanya is the betting favorite for his long-awaited fight against middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis in the UFC 305 main event.
As of Tuesday morning, Adesanya was listed as a -155 favorite and Du Plessis a +130 underdog.
Du Plessis and Adesanya will meet for the 185-pound title on Aug. 17 in Perth, Australia.
Du Plessis, of South Africa, is defending the belt for the first time since becoming champion with a split-decision win over Sean Strickland at UFC 297 in January.
Adesanya is looking to regain the throne and become a three-time champ. The Nigerian-born New Zealander suffered a stunning unanimous decision loss to Strickland at UFC 293 last September in Sydney, just months after knocking out Alex Pereira to win the title for a second time.
Adesanya first captured UFC gold in 2019 and is considered one of the greatest middleweights of his era.
