Report: Gamrot-Hooker slated for UFC 305
A showdown between top lightweight contenders Dan Hooker and Mateusz Gamrot is being added to the UFC 305 card on Aug. 17 at RAC Arena in Perth, Australia, sources told MMA Junkie's Farah Hannoun.
Gamrot (24-2, 1 NC) has won his three previous matches. The Polish fighter scored victories over Jalin Turner and Rafael Fiziev before a unanimous decision win over Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 299 in March.
Hooker (23-12) will enter the Octagon riding a two-fight win streak. The 34-year-old scored a second-round TKO win over Claudio Puelles at UFC 281 and won a highly contested bout against Turner by split decision at UFC 290 in July 2023.
Gamrot and Hooker are ranked No. 5 and No. 11 in the lightweight division, respectively.
UFC 305 is set to be headlined by return of Hooker's City Kickboxing teammate Israel Adesanya, who is challenging Dricus Du Plessis for the middleweight title. The card will also see Kai Kara-France square off against Steve Erceg in a battle between flyweight contenders.
