The Milwaukee Bucks will reportedly hold a free-agent meeting with the recently waived JR Smith on Thursday, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.

Smith is searching for a new team after he was cut by the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday. Milwaukee, meanwhile, is in the hunt for a new shooting wing, Charania adds. Smith is a career 37.3 percent shooter from beyond the arc and would fit the Bucks' strategy of surrounding talisman Giannis Antetokounmpo with 3-point specialists.

It's unclear how strong the market for Smith is expected to be, however. The Los Angeles Lakers, which employ his longtime former teammate LeBron James, are reportedly an unlikely destination for the veteran.

The 32-year-old Smith appeared in just 11 games with the Cavaliers last season. He was expelled from the team in November following his remarks that the Cavs were losing purposely in order to land better draft picks.

Cleveland attempted to trade the 15-year veteran but couldn't manufacture a swap. The team then waived him before his $15.7-million salary was guaranteed for the 2019-20 season.
